On November 15, the Third International Conference on Grain, Oil and Food Science and Technology Development, jointly organized by Henan University of Technology, the Academy of State Administration of Grain and Material Reserves, and Zhongyuan Food Laboratory, opened in Zhengzhou. In attendance were: Academician Ren Fazheng, professor at China Agricultural University,Tan Ben’gang, president of the Academy of State Administration of Grain and Material Reserves ,Chen Hao, second-level inspector of the Henan Provincial Department of Science and Technology,Chen Xiaopeng, deputy director of the Henan Provincial Grain and Material Reserve Bureau ,Professor Wu Zhishen, president of Henan University of Technology, Professor Li Zhaofeng, vice president of Jiangnan University,Professor Fang Yong, vice president of Nanjing University of Finance and Economics,Professor Zhao Renyong, vice president of Henan University of Technology. Distinguished scholars from Egypt, Pakistan, Brazil, Cuba, South Korea, Canada, Cambodia, Malaysia, the United States, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Hungary, the United Kingdom and other countries, together with more than 300 experts, professors and postgraduate students from Jiangnan University, China Agricultural University, South China University of Technology, Nanchang University, Beijing Technology and Business University, Jiangsu University, Wuhan Polytechnic University, Hainan University, Zhejiang University of Technology and other domestic universities, research institutes and enterprises, participated in the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Bai Yanhong, vice president of Henan University of Technology.

Conference Venue
On behalf of Henan University of Technology, President Wu Zhishen extended a warm welcome to all attendees. He noted that HAUT, known as the “Asian Grain College,” has nearly 70 years of experience in grain and oil education, possesses China’s most comprehensive discipline cluster for grain-oil-food science and an equally strong ultra-hard materials cluster, and is home to 361 high-level talents including domestic and foreign academicians and Changjiang Scholars. The university has won 14 National Science-and-Technology Progress Awards and is regarded as the “Whampoa Military Academy” of China’s grain industry. Dr. Wu said the conference aims to pool global wisdom to meet industry challenges and to advance the digitalization, globalization and personalization of the entire grain-oil-food chain for sustainable development. He encouraged participants to share their latest findings freely, spark new ideas, and achieve fruitful results in research, technology transfer and industrial cooperation. He also expressed the hope that the meeting will serve as a bridge of friendship and collaboration, forging consensus for more open and mutually beneficial partnerships and injecting fresh momentum into high-quality discipline development and the cultivation of top-tier talent in the grain, oil and food sectors.

On behalf of the co-organizers, Tan Bengang extended his welcome to all guests. He pointed out that the global grain, oil and food industry is confronted with challenges such as climate change, resource constraints and food safety. Against this backdrop, the international community needs solidarity and cooperation more than ever, and through this international conference, consensus should be built and technological achievements shared.

The Third International Conference on Grain, Oil and Food Science and Technology Development—held in Zhengzhou on 15 November under the theme “Smart Innovation · Green Future: Coordinated and Sustainable Development of the Full Grain, Oil & Food Industry Chain”—opened with a warm welcome from Henan University of Technology president Wu Zhishen, co-organizer Tan Bengang of the Academy of State Administration of Grain and Material Reserves, and Henan Provincial Department of Science and Technology representative Chen Hao. After the opening, chaired by vice-president Bai Yanhong, the programme moved to invited plenary lectures moderated by Zhang Na (Harbin University of Commerce) and Liu Kunlun (Henan University of Technology). Five keynote addresses were delivered by Academician Ren Fazheng (China Agricultural University), former ICC president Hamit Köksel (Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, Turkey), vice-presidents Li Zhaofeng (Jiangnan University) and Fang Yong (Nanjing University of Finance and Economics), and Academician Tan Chin Ping (Universiti Putra Malaysia). Domestic and international experts, young scholars and graduate students then exchanged new findings and perspectives in parallel sessions on quality & efficiency upgrading in grain & oil processing, future grains & oils for nutrition and health, novel resources & intelligent manufacturing, and storage, logistics & safety control, advancing global collaboration toward a digitalised, green and sustainable grain, oil and food industry chain.

During the conference, a series of academic exchanges and field visits were arranged. Through tours of the university’s research platforms and practice bases, domestic and foreign experts gained a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the university’s overall strength and scientific research capabilities.
The two-day Third International Conference on Grain, Oil and Food Science and Technology Development successfully concluded at the Guanghua Hotel in Zhengzhou. The event provided a high-level exchange platform for grain and oil scientists and technologists worldwide, advanced cutting-edge industry research, deepened international cooperation, and markedly elevated the University’s global standing and influence in the field, injecting powerful momentum into its accelerated “Double First-Class” initiative.
